Lauren Hake (she/her) LDM, CPM
I’ve been mesmerized by birth since I was pregnant with my first son in 2012. I was the client who came to every prenatal armed with a full page of questions, and when I was approaching my due date and finally asked “Why don’t other people think this is as important and fascinating as I do?” my midwives shared a ‘Look’ and confessed that they thought I was going to be a midwife myself.
It was a big decision and it sure hasn’t been an easy road, but now I am! After two babies, becoming a peer breastfeeding counselor, two midwifery schools and one pandemic later, I am so proud to be a Certified Professional Midwife. Just as my own labors gave me no option but to look at my reflection and see just how capable I am, my journey as a birth worker has shown me a new side of my own tenacity and resilience.
Along with my self knowledge, my career in birth work is rooted in a belief that autonomy and individuality are essential in pregnancy care, and that the experience of receiving midwifery care has the potential to change how birthing folks and new little humans are wired. I really think it can change the world.
My life in the birth world has gifted me with knowledge and skills in lactation support, plant medicine, and homeopathy. When not at a birth you might find me dabbling at home with my many critters, brewing kombucha or enthusiastically diving into another new homesteading hobby. While I have to admit I am a poor gardener, I do have a thriving flock of ducks that bring my household so much joy. My two active boys are in elementary and middle school, and they keep us busy and full of wonder. My family enjoys all kinds of board games as well as time in nature together, and I like to relax with solo crafts such as knitting or by reading by the fireplace.

Lauren provided me with incredible care and support during the birth of my second child, referred to me as my doula while finishing her midwifery program. From the moment we connected, she brought a sense of calm, confidence and warmth that I truly needed.
During labor at the hospital, Lauren was an unwavering presence- guiding me, advocating for my preferences and ensuring I felt empowered every step of the way. Her knowledge, skill and intuition made a huge difference in my birthing experience and I am so grateful she was there. Her training as a midwife really saved the day (long story) and with her help, I was able to achieve every goal I was hoping for including natural pain management during an induction, immediate skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding support right from the start.
Thanks to her support, I look back on this birth experience with gratitude and joy. If you're considering working with Lauren, I highly recommend her - she is compassionate, knowledgeable and truly dedicated to the families she cares for.

During my last pregnancy, Lauren was a student midwife who assisted in my care. She did an exceptional job. During every visit she made me feel so comfortable! By the end of my pregnancy, Lauren was so much more than a midwife and was my friend! On the day of my delivery Lauren acted as the primary midwife and she did a phenomenal job. I felt so at peace knowing she was overseeing my care and I was able to focus solely on my labor. My home birth with Lauren was one of my favorite experiences of my life. I can’t recommend Lauren enough for all your maternity needs! She’s talented at her work and connects effortlessly with her patients!
